Pattonville Fire District Resident,

Over the past few years the operational budget has been subject to the same economic issues and down turns as the rest of our citizens have had to deal with.  Unfortunately this has caused our Fire District to face the reality that our tax based income is at a point where our expenditures have begun to exceed our revenues.  Due to this cycle we have been forced to find alternative methods of funding our operational budget.  After many hours of research, we feel that one of the most effective ways to achieve our goal is to bill our resident’s insurance provider for EMS services provided.  This seems to be the most reasonable method of continuing to provide the same level of service that our district residents have become accustom to.  The bill will be sent to each individual’s insurance provider for payment of services.  Upon receipt of payment from the health insurance provider the district will then wave the remainder of the bill that the insurance provider did not pay.  This means that there will be no out of pocket expenses passed on to each user of the Pattonville Fire District EMS service.  We feel that this option is the best solution as the citizens will not have to “pay” anymore than what they currently pay through their taxes.  This method of billing residents has been adopted by a large majority of the St. Louis County area Fire Departments and Districts and is currently already taking place in our surrounding boarders.
